Our first day!
Today the kids had their first day at home school co-op. We meet every Thursday at a local church with about 25-30 other families with kids ranging from NB to High School. Abigail has been anticipating this day for weeks now. I believe it lived up to her expectations. On the way home, we went through a series of questions about everybody's day and when I asked A about her favorite class she said, "All of them". And I believe Nate thoroughly enjoyed his day as well. A little rough start but when I saw him in the hall after the 3rd hour class all I got was a quick, "Hi Mom, ::high-five:: bye-bye Mom," and the biggest grin ever. Considering week 1 a huge success! And can I say, Abigail is already milking this "first day of school" thing for all it's worth. We had a frosty on the way home and now she is thinking her Daddy needs to take her out to eat and buy her a gift. That's my girl!

Outer-Space
This week we have been to the Moon and back. And we made this handy little spaceship to get us there. Windows, lights, wings, stars, and a sky. What else could you need?

Southern at Night
Had the privelege of attempting to shoot Southern Seminary at dusk with Jeff Marshman. Great time. Kedra and the kids hung out in the courtyard, rode bikes and talked with friends. I'm not sure if there is a more pleasant place in the evening than Southern's campus--which is the reason I wanted to do this in the first place. Couldn't have accomplished this without Jeff's pro-ness.

S
Oh how we are loving home school! This week we have studied the letter S, and more specifically a word that starts with S...the Sun. Our curriculum so nicely incorporates our letter, with an object, and then to Christ. So along with S, and the Sun, we talked about how Jesus is the light of the world. Very pleased thus far with the curriculum. We also needed to take a quick trip to the School (more specifically, the Seminary) this week. I was once again reminded how much I love that place. My kids can leave their Scooters right in the middle of the Sidewalk, climb any tree, play with their loudest voices and people walk by and just Smile. And you can almost count on making a new friend...one for each of us. We got to picnic with some friends we had never met and it was like we had been friends forever. It was such a happy morning. I think we will take our "School" there more often.
Along with our study of the Sun, we made a sun-dial. It has been so fun to see things come alive in their little heads. Looking forward to a great year!
