Send-off

One of our favorite morning routines looks like this...

My kids have it down to a tea, and they never miss one single beat of it. It's as if the day can't go on unless each part has taken place...

#1 Abigail and Nathan hunt for Daddy's keys and wallet. Good-bye hugs and kisses are given.

#2 Abigail runs to open the door for Daddy, usually with one of his items in hand to "help" him carry it to his car.

#3 Abigail races to Daddy's car to open it for him...Nathan "races" behind.

#4 Both climb in, Abigail taking the passenger seat while Nathan pretends to drive. (I mean, the man should ALWAYS drive right!?)

#5 Daddy laughs and explains how late he is running.

#6 Kids jump out, Abigail MUST shut Daddy's door for him.

#7 Abigail quickly yells, "Daddy, you forgot to give me a hug and a kiss." (Not actually true.)

#8 Daddy opens up the door again to grant her wishes.

#9 Abigail shuts the door again.

#10 Daddy rolls down the window to give his final waves...so he thinks.

#11 Abigail runs half-way up the yard to wave good-bye. Nathan stops at sidewalk yelling as loud as his little lungs will allow him, "Bye Dad-dy", over and over again.

#12 Daddy makes his way around the cul-de-sac and must roll down the passenger window to continue his return good-bye wave.

#13 As he gets just past hearing distance Abigail yells, "Have a nice day!" And then wonders why Daddy didn't immediately come back.

#14 Nate has now proceeded up to the porch and must watch and yell "Bye Dad-dy" until the little red Honda is no longer in site.

#15 Then we sit on the porch for a brief moment of reflection and recovery from the sweetness of the morning.

Every morning, guys. Every morning.

Oh, I love it. It's so great that you wrote it down because you'll always have that sweet memory.
When Isaac and Josiah were lots smaller, I had a daily schedule for Isaac posted up on the refrigerator. That way he could go look at the fridge and see what would happen next in the day. I saved it and I'm so glad that I did.
