I'll give you a hint, there are 5 stones in that crown royal bag. And Abigail didn't want to carry a baby doll.

Learnin' her ways

Ever since Abigail could get around on her own she has climbed, jumped off, flown from, and walked across. She has set the bar high for her little brother and he is picking up fast.

More of Huber's

It seems like every season of every year we make our way down to Huber Farm to get some of whats going on there. This time we went with the adoption ministry group, Rosalynn's Hope, from our church. It was a great time to get together with new and old faces and celebrate growing families and talk about our adoption processes. Here are a few fun pics from the day. If there is one thing I love about living in KY it's FALL time!

Adding to our nest.

"God sets the lonely in families..." Psalm 68:6

Today as the kids as I sat down to do school, we read the Dr. Suess book, "Are you my Mother?" You may be familiar with it. It was recommended to do during our study this week on "Nests" and how "God takes good care of me". It is about a mother bird who right before her baby bird hatches, she takes off to prepare for food for her new little one. When the bird hatches, his mother is not there and so he heads out on an adventure to find her. He quickly learns that a kitten, a hen, a dog, a cow, and so on and so on, are not his mother. In the end he finds his mother, and realizes only a bird could properly care for him. We talked about how God so perfectly cares for us and gives us all that we need. Not only does he care for us physically but he was preparing our hearts this week for a very special phone call...

There is a sweet baby girl in Ethiopia who is ready to be a part of a family, OUR family. We were thrilled to receive this referral and look forward to the day when we will bring her home. Though they do not know her actual birthday they suspect she is around 6-7 weeks old and premature. We will be sending in our acceptance letter this week and the agency thinks we will be able to travel for the court date at the end of December and if all goes well, return to pick her up in February. We long for this day! Until then, we will wait and pray and we ask that you would pray with us...
- for her health, growth and development
-the doctors, nurses, and nannies caring for her there
-our family as we wait...the kids as they prepare to take on a new sister
-financial provision as we finish out this process
-and most of all that the Lord would be glorified, and our sweet girl would come to know him as Savior at a very early age

Sweet Hannah, we are so excited to be your family. We love you so much already!

My birthday

Oh, how I want to remember this day forever! My birthday fell on a Monday this year which meant we would be doing school, it was cleaning day in our house and Tory would be working late. So, Tory made sure the weekend before was celebrated and told Abigail is was her job to make sure Mommy had an extra special day on her actual birthday since he would be at work. She took his instructions straight to heart and probably lost much sleep over it. She woke up first thing in the morning already ready to get the balloons blown up...so we dug through the craft closet and found the perfect ones. This was great, but she still wasn't satisfied. She informed me that she needed me to take her to Wal-Mart so she could rent me and Daddy a movie from Redbox for my birthday. (She knows her Mama loves a good movie.) So we went. She was so serious about her picking it out...she made me close my eyes and everything. She even swiped the card. So tonight Tory and I will be watching Iron Man II for the first time actually. Ha ha. Love it! The thought and work she put into making sure I felt so special meant the world to me. So proud of my girl.

Nate wasn't quite getting this whole "Mama's birthday" thing. He asked, "Mom, when is your birthday?"
"It's today, Bud."
"But when is your birthday?"
"Today."
"Ya Mom, but when. is. your. birthday?"
Not quite sure as to what he was expecting me to say, "We are having my birthday today, Nate."
"But where are the candles?"
Ah ha! Of course! My boy needs me to have a cake to have my birthday. So off to Kroger we went!

Thank you, wonderful kids of mine, for making Mama feel so so special today. Your thoughts and love for me are the best gift ever! I love you so.

Sick-day Crazies

My kids can wake-up sick, moaning, on fire with 102 temp, and pretty much life-less. But you give them a dose of Ibuprofen and miracles happen. We did have to miss co-op this week because of the 24 hour fever rule but I figured since they could belt out the ole' "7th Inning Stretch" at the top of their lungs we would throw in a little education somehow. No sick days around here! :)
